What is a Physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists are health care professionals who are recognised experts in physical rehabilitation. They take time to properly assess and treat a wide variety of conditions affecting mobility. A programme is then developed to reduce pain, improve movement and prevent recurrence.
What education do Physiotherapists have?
Most Physiotherapists have 3 to 4 years of University training prior to registration.
Do I need a Doctors referral?
It is not necessary to have a Doctors referral in order to be assessed and treated at the clinic.
If at any time during assessment or treatment the Physiotherapist feels you require a medical opinion, you may be recommended to see a Doctor.
Some insurance companies require a Doctors referral to be eligible for reimbursement.
What does treatment involve?
The first visit involves an assessment, which includes a history of the current problem, a medical history and activities influencing your condition. Treatment options will be discussed and designed to suit your specific needs. The number of treatments needed will vary from person to person and depends on the nature and duration of the condition, and compliance with the prescribed exercises or advice.
How long does it take?
Each session usually lasts for 30-40 minutes. This is adjusted to your individual need and level of complexity. Taking longer with one person may result in an unavoidable delay with your appointment. Please allow extra time if you are using the parking meters, occasionally sessions can run 20 minutes late.
Is Physiotherapy covered by my insurance company?
Most health insurance companies cover treatment by a Chartered and Registered Physiotherapist. Please check your own insurance company for details.
We are able to bill some insurance companies directly.
